Are We There Yet?

Happy New Year. Almost.

Are we there yet?

And, is it foolish to pin our hearts' anxious, worried hopes on a sparkly new year making everything right again?

Maybe.

For my part, I'm going for it. Intentions, resolutions, everything but those "30 day challenges" that are bombarding my inbox. (I don't need 30 days of challenge. Who goes looking for more sustained challenge right now??) I have no desire for 30 days straight of self flagellating bootcamp—yoga or otherwise—or "cleansing" off a few pounds. If I'm honest, I'm really, really tired. My intentions for the New Year are shaping up around things like more sleep, more phone calls with my dad, more time playing.

I'm thankful, truly, for much of what has gone down since mid-March.
I've learned a lot about stuff I never thought I'd want to learn about, like filming and recording yoga classes and all things Zoom and realizing, after watching the first few attempts that....I don't smile enough! Who knew? More smiling....that's a good resolution.

I'm thankful I have not lost anyone to this disease. I'm thankful my two grown children live in and across from my house. For now. I'm thankful I have a life partner and that we love each other. I'm thankful I love being outside so much and for all the mountains I've climbed and for dear friends who have quietly "podded" up with me and hiked, run and walked me through these months.

I'm thankful, so very thankful, for the dear souls that sign up for online classes, who have maintained their UVY memberships and inspired me to be a better teacher. I'm thankful that I'm still able to reach people and teach, and connect, and know we're not as alone as we sometimes feel. I'm thankful for the UVY teachers who have come with me on this sometimes weird journey.

I'll see you in 2021 and I'm looking forward to when that means something other than in our "hollywood squares" but that's what we've got right now, and those connections brighten my days, as I hope they do yours.

Be safe, keep up your good efforts with the masks and social distancing, and when opportunity presents, get your vaccination.

Happy New Year!

Love,
Leslie

Flex-stream Yoga...what is it?

If 2020 taught us anything it is that we need to be flexible and adapt to our ever-changing world.  Fortunately, the practice of yoga gives us tools to remain flexible in mind and body and allows us to move through life with more fluidity and grace. “Flex-stream” Yoga classes are just that: flexible. You use the same “view broadcast” link as livestream and you sign up for class the same way. But, you can take the class anytime that day until midnight.

A few notes about “Flex-stream” classes:

•Only classes with  the “Flex-stream” label are offered in this format.

•You need to sign up as if you are attending the class live (before the scheduled start of class) to access the link. flex-stream classes will be taught as though they were livestream—tailored to that day, style, level etc.—but will be pre-recorded and uploaded so you can practice flexibly, at your convenience.

• The link will not work until the scheduled class time and will not work after midnight or a different specified time, on the day of the class. Please read the confirmation email that you receive after registering for class carefully, as some of these classes will also be offered livestream, in real time, and in that instance, the recording won't be available until a few minutes after the class finishes, to give the instructor time to upload to a platform and post the link.

•We ask that you respect the teachers and studio by not sharing the link.
