Slowing Down

The busy holiday season is almost upon us. This is an especially important time to slow down; to carve out time to take care of yourself and to reflect, and experience the particular joy that comes when you cultivate gratitude. I recently read about a study that demonstrated that gratitude itself is extremely effective in combating depression. The holidays have the potential to deliver both—the love and joy experienced with cherished family and friends, and the crushing seasonal depression that many fall prey to. Take the time, before you are caught up in your own holiday busyness, to simply identify what you can be grateful for, to reflect upon it, feel it, and maybe even express it.

We offer lots of opportunities in the coming weeks to create a climate of self reflection through yoga practice. In addition to our full roster of classes, take note of the specials that are coming up, new classes and changes, so that you can come to class not only to sweat and breathe and feel bodily bliss, but also to nurture the sweetness of contemplation, that you may stay happy and whole through the holiday season and beyond.
