These are a Few of my Favorite Things

Greg and I were just in DC to visit family and attended the Van Gogh Immersion exhibit. I was prepared to be underwhelmed based on a friend's report, but instead found it captivating and moving. I think there is something about immersive events that is working for people right now—or, working for me at least. You are at the center of the thing, your senses bathed and massaged with a heady cocktail of visuals and audio. And at the root of the sensory experience, a narrative that is powerful and moving. At some point I set my judgey self aside (is this real art?) and just let myself have and fully feel the experience.

Immersive experiences are making strides in the world of entertainment and wellness both. Perhaps we crave events that drown out the daily dose of distress courtesy of news cycles, covid (and covid fatigue) and the ever present onslaught of advertising.

To be immersed, bathed in something that wakes up your deepest self, to tap into the bedrock of consciousness itself, this is the power of Nada Yoga and Sound Bath. I've only experienced it once. It was powerful and nourishing and I look forward to doing so again.

Samana's session for this evening filled quickly but I'm happy to let you know that she will be offering Nada Yoga Mondays at 9 am and Fridays at 6 pm. These will be ongoing classes and sign-ups will open soon. (Samana will be gone late November through early January, traveling in India with her partner, but will return thereafter). Scroll down for more information on Samana and on Nada Yoga, the Yoga of Sound.

Leading up to Thanksgiving are several wonderful opportunities to "bathe" yourself in stress-preventive self care, including Restoratives with Miriah, a Ground and Connect practice with Erin, and earlier on, a Soma-flow class with me next weekend, that explores the blend of immersive somatic movement with mindful flow and meditation. On Thanksgiving day, Sharon will once again, for the 13th year in a row, offer her fabulous by-donation class to benefit the Upper Valley Haven. We are still sorting the details as to format, but hope you can join us on Thanksgiving morning, 9 am, whether in person or online for this wonderful UVY tradition. As soon as we have more information and links to the donation page, info will be updated in Events, so please do check back soon.
You can scroll down to see more information about all these events.

Late fall is itself an immersive experience in New England; Hope you are enjoying the smells, colors and sensations of the season.
