Summer Changes

Yesterday I was up in Greensboro for Circus Smirkus’ opening of their summer touring show, “Anchors Away for Atlantis”. I promise this will be my very last plug for Circus Smirkus, in which my son Liam is performing his third season. But seriously, this show is absolutely stunning, beautiful, and powerful. There are acts that rival any circus I’ve seen, including Cirque du Soleil, and while it is a “youth circus”, this show, more than any Smirkus show I’ve seen, is also deeply satisfying on an all-ages level. Every single performer is jaw droppingly talented.

A first year trouper’s parent from NYC—seeing Smirkus for the first time last evening—gasped early on in the show and turned to me with tears in her eyes. “Oh my God” she said. “I had no idea.” Please don’t miss this show!

Shows are in Hanover July 5 and 6 and some of the shows are close to sold out. If you are interested in volunteering at a show in exchange for a free ticket here’s a
link to the sign up page for volunteers. If you prefer to buy a ticket instead, don’t let me stop you! (If you do see the show, my son Liam is the Sailor clown in pink stripes). Namaste, and “see you down the road”, as they say in circus speak.
