Mystery or Mastery?

Mystery or mastery? Can we have both? The longer I practice yoga and meditation, the more interested I am in connecting to mystery. The longer I teach, the more I hope to help students feel their own connection to mystery. Mastery is interesting for sure, and it's fun to geek out on the biomechanics of posture, how to reverse engineer challenging poses and use props to help the progression of a particular pose. But mystery is compelling. Mystery for me is connected to deep, studied listening. I want it in my personal yoga practice, and I want to help students experience it in classes at UVY.

I think mystery is kind of "shy" though. And, you cannot give someone else the experience of mystery or spirituality. You can only take them on a journey that ultimately travels from outer to inner. Teach them how to pay attention (to their big toe, to their kneecaps, to their breath, to the floor beneath them) and at each place of attention, you have placed a sort of "cairn" that marks their pathway through the inner and outer landscapes of yoga practice.

We have numerous ways—playful and compelling—to explore mystery AND mastery coming up this month. Not only that, but you can purchase our August pass for only $99 and attend classes daily! (see sidebar)

What's new?—Leslie's free Tuesday meditation sessions through August, Deb's Yoga Nidra (also free!), all our wonderful regular classes that offer varying degrees of challenge, and Prenatal Yoga (talk about connecting to mystery!) beginning in September.

We look forward to seeing you in WRJ and Thetford!Love,Leslie
