Yin Yoga

Even though it feels like winter hasn’t yet gotten a toehold, with a noticeable increase in daylight and plenty of bare spots on lawns, the transition toward spring is building. In the Chinese five element system that informs yin yoga, seasonal transitions are opportunities to tune into the earth element, giving us stability in times of change. The corresponding yin poses are ones that open the front body (low lunges, gentle back bends) and bring about calm and ease. We’ll start with a warming yang sequence (I am fresh from a yoga-for-athletes training at Kripalu, and have some fun things to share) before settling into our earthbound yin sequence of longer-held floor-based poses. All levels and drop-ins welcome; no registration necessary.
